Warm Fuzzy Salute

The Watertown Humane Society is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide for the lost, homeless, neglected and abused animals of the City of Watertown as well as surrounding communities that we contract with. Additionally, we strive to educate and enlighten the public regarding animal
welfare in their communities.

Just like many other local organizations, we started with humble origins. While our facility is still small by today’s standards, by the start of December 2015 we had already helped to adopt and rehome over 330 cats and 100 dogs. This does not include stray animals that have been returned to owners or others that had been in our care and then transferred to other rescue organizations.

While these large numbers are great to boast of, it is the more difficult individual cases that stand out in our memories for years to come. We had heartworm positive dogs to kittens barely old enough to eat and requiring leg amputations. We’ve seen a young teenage pup so neglected he required blood transfusions and surgery and we have seen loving senior dogs just looking for one last friendly lap to rest their heads on. Through all of these varying difficulties we keep working towards that hope that these animals in need will eventually get the happy ending they deserve.

We currently have one special case still looking for a home. Cody (pictured) is a senior Shepherd male that has on ongoing medical condition that requires treatment here under our care, and will continue to need treatment in his new home. Cody is the definition of gentleman, and can usually be found in our front office greeting all of our guests. While he might enjoy these responsibilities, we still keep holding to hope that we are just a temporary stop for Cody and that his new family will be right around the corner.

Like many of our sister organizations, we utilize a Guardian Angel Fund with donations specifically allocated to help with all of
these special cases. Donations can be made towards our cause by visiting our website at www.watertownhumanesociety.org or by sending check to our location at 418 Water Tower Ct. Watertown, WI 53094. All donations to the Guardian Angel fund will go towards helping Cody and other animals in need of our special care.
