∗Must be willing to pick up poop 💩 because some of our guests are adorable… but apparently skipped Housebreaking 101.
Do you believe a good day at work might include helping someone choose dog food, explaining why their cat is being weird, and getting unsolicited slobber from a Labrador? We do!
Mounds is an award-winning pet supply store, but this is NOT your average retail job.
What You Will Do
You will spend most of your day on the sales floor:
Help customers find the right food, treats, toys, supplements, and gear for their pet family members. Basically, you’ll help people spoil their pets responsibly.
Create a friendly, welcoming experience for customers. Listen to their pet stories (there will be many), answer questions, and offer helpful recommendations. You may also be required to admire photos of someone’s dog. This is not technically in the job description, but it happens anyway.
Create fun, eye-catching displays that make customers think, “My dog absolutely needs this.” Even when their dog already has twelve of them. Plus, you automatically get bragging rights if your display looks fabulous.
Working with your teammates to keep the store clean, organized, stocked, and running smoothly. Because dog food doesn’t shelve itself!
Learning about pet nutrition, products, training, and care so you can become the person customers trust with questions about their furry family members. No, you don’t need to know everything on Day One. But you do need to be curious enough to want to learn.
And yes… mopping up pee and picking up poop. Not all of our four-legged guests are housebroken. Some are… works in progress.
At Mounds, we never really know what the day will bring. And honestly, that’s part of the fun. As a Sales Lead, your shift will also include:
- Cashiering and other register duties
- Selling products and assisting customers with their product needs
- Discussing Mounds brands and benefits with customers
- Discussing current sales/promos and featured products with customers
- Stocking, fronting, rotating, and tidying merchandise
- Attending to damaged product per policy
- Ensuring the store is neat, clean, and organized throughout the day
- Other duties as assigned by manager on duty
Now let’s get to the good stuff!
- Starting pay is $17/hour with bonuses and possible raises.
- Full-time AND part-time opportunities.
- Paid time off—take that vacay!
- Your birthday is a holiday here, so enjoy some PTO!
- Two retirement plans. (Ask us about our Employee Stock Ownership Plan. Seriously. It’s impressive.)
- Generous employee discount.
- Growth opportunities within our expanding store network.
- A genuinely fun, friendly community of fellow pet lovers.
If this doesn’t sound like your happy place, then you have our permission to stop reading. However, if your definition of a good day includes dog hair on your shirt, then keep reading.

…commit to at least 40 hours per week (full-time)?
…lift 50 lbs. frequently to shoulder height and reach above eye level?
…stoop, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and generally move around a retail environment?
…operate a computer or learn a point-of-sale system?
…come to work with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn?
Why Mounds?
Because going to work everyday surrounded by people who love pets beats staring at spreadsheets all day. Except for our accountant, he actually prefers that…
We believe pets make life better, and helping people take great care of them is pretty rewarding.
You’ll be part salesperson, part pet-product detective, part customer-service superstar, part display artist, part janitor, and occasionally, part poop patrol. There will be busy days. There will be weird days. There will be days when someone’s dog refuses to leave because they’ve found the treat aisle. But, there will also be puppies and kitties (and the occasional bunny). So if you’re kind, curious, hardworking, comfortable talking to people, and think spending your day around animals sounds like a pretty great way to make a living, we’d love to meet you.
Apply today and join the Mounds team!
Come for the paycheck. Stay for the puppy kisses. 🐾
