Bring your pet along while you shop, but please use a non-retractable leash (six feet or shorter) or a secure crate for safety. We look forward to providing you and your pet with a great shopping experience!
Frequent Buyer Program
All Mounds’ shoppers benefit from our large selection of pet supplies, ensuring there’s something for every pet’s needs. Our extensive assortment is complemented by a rewarding frequent buyer program, providing additional value to our customers.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Mounds is renowned for its active engagement in the community, collaborating with local humane societies, service animal groups, rescue organizations, and police K9 units. In addition to charitable contributions, we encourage local non-profit animal groups to sign up for in-store events to inform the public about adoption options and how to get involved locally.
PET ADOPTION
Mounds is dedicated to addressing the issue of pet overpopulation. To contribute to this cause, we have an established in-store Satellite Adoption Center at our Janesville location, operated in collaboration with a local rescue group. Join us in our commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of homeless pets in our community.
OUR HISTORY
1963
Mounds Agri Service
Ken Mack, a 1963 University of Wisconsin graduate, began his professional career as a District General Manager for the Ralston Purina Company. It was during his ten-year tenure with Ralston Purina that Ken founded Mounds Agri Service, a livestock company, in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin.

1976
Quick Expansion
By 1974 Mounds Agri Service expanded so quickly that Ken left Purina to focus on his own company. He moved the business to an old warehouse he rented in downtown Middleton. By 1976, Mounds Agri Service had outgrown the old warehouse, so Ken purchased a vacant lot on Highway 14 and began a steady program of building the mill facilities that exist today as Randan Agri Service.
1984
Private Label Pet Food
Mounds Agri Service was a farm store, built to accommodate farm customers. Its primary business was the manufacture of farm feeds and fertilizers, with some pet food offerings.
However, by 1984 the farm store was devoted entirely to pet food and supplies. Ken began selling private-label products: Dog Power, Purrfect Cat, Horse Power, and the various wild bird seeds. These products helped the company stay competitive and profitable when larger national chain pet supply stores came to the Madison area.
